This star-crossed artist/concert match was hampered only by the logistics of incorporating a violin, as initially assumed. That’s where luthier Larry Brown’s expertise came in. Larry pointed out that the classical guitar’s construction ironically featured a surface and detail appropriate to ground the intended photography. Larry painstakingly deconstructed a classical guitar and prepared the interior to frame Tina’s work. The guitar’s interior detail became an inspiration: Tina sliced and reassembled the image to repeat the toothed structural support. Larry encased the final photographic collage in protective acrylic.
In this image, Tina positioned Cincinnati Ballet’s principal ballerina, Melissa Gelfin, to enliven the shimmering pleated fabric and capture the ecstasy of motion, of dance, of a fandango with crackling castanets and frenetic strings, like the compositions of one of the concert’s featured composers, Luigi Boccherini.

Tina’s impeccable fine art studio and underwater photography combines her study of classical art with an immediate relevance that pulls the viewer into a timeless experience. She has an innate understanding of the human form, its movement and how to express it through photographic composition. She is a favorite commercial photographer among performing artists; you no doubt have seen headshots and promos that she has photographed. In addition to her visual artistry, Tina is degreed in classical guitar and is a well-known lutenist. Larry is a master luthier, known internationally for his early music reproductions, frequently relying on period artworks to design instruments otherwise lost to time.
